Job description

About the Role:

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to be based from our Brownhills depot to cover work on our HS2 sites.

The focus of this role is to ensure we deliver a first class service to both internal & external customers. To actively seek revenue opportunities and discuss these with customers, Customer Support Representative's and your Line Manager.

What you will be doing:

  1. Service and repair Volvo construction equipment or miscellaneous equipment
  2. Identify mechanical problems, using technical knowledge and computerized diagnostic equipment, offering guidance and advice to the customer
  3. Carrying out duties in a commercially focused way, seeking additional service revenue opportunities and promoting our aftermarket solutions
  4. Work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting to management where additional work may be required
  5. Ensure software updates are installed as new versions are released
  6. Complete tablet inputs, electronic reports and timesheets in ‘real time' providing comprehensive details of the work undertaken
  7. Order parts for your work as necessary and to return parts in a clean condition and at the time of job completion
  8. Able to work overtime as and when required and to honour reasonable call out requests
  9. Attend any relevant product or systems training courses

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

In order to set you up for success, we look for the following skills and experience:

  1. A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural / HGV mechanics or related discipline (i.e. NVQ 3/C&G)
  2. Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, including proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrics
  3. Advanced diagnostic and trouble shooting skills and comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics and EATS
  4. Ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers
  5. Work with a cost conscious mindset to ensure maximum profitability
  6. Ability to problem solve and high level of diagnostic skills
  7. Confident using computer systems and outlook
  8. High levels or attention to detail
  9. Conscientious in all aspects of the job
  10. Highly responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy
  11. Ability to understand technical literature/systems

Desirable:

  1. Experience of Welding and Fabrication
