Job Purpose

To provide Instrumentation/ Electrical maintenance and technical support to the Water Production team to ensure Instrumentation and Control equipment is maintained safely and efficiently in order that we may deliver the best quality wastewater service to our customers.

The role can require lone working, confined spaces working and providing input into capital and operational projects to ensure assets fully meet operational and maintenance requirements and the desired business outcome. Participation in an out of hour’s standby rota is a requirement.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • To implement an efficient Instrumentation maintenance and installation service.
  • To analyse faults, rectify and ensure correct operation of Instrumentation and Electrical Equipment.
  • To perform planned and proactive maintenance activities.
  • To ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and internal company policies
  • To provide reliable, accurate and complete asset performance and repair information.
  • To analyse and recommend solutions to recurring maintenance problems.
  • Ensure that throughout your career that the required skills, competence and recency in all relevant subject matter are maintained
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Ability to work in a team but also alone, be resilient, self-motivated, with strong problem solving skills and possess the required technical competence
  • Ability to diversify into specialised areas of maintenance, as required, such as but not limited to gas systems and hazardous area installations.
  • Diagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • A practical and theoretical knowledge of instrumentation, telemetry and motor control systems is required
  • Where appropriate, possess a sound working knowledge of Simocode, Profibus and similar industrial technology systems
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, Company policy, statutory regulations, operations procedures, maintenance procedures, administration procedures
  • Preferable: Water or process related Industry Experience – 3 years+
Qualifications
  • A time served apprenticeship or equivalent, supported with academic qualifications ideally to HNC or minimum ONC equivalent in a relevant technical area
  • A valid driving licence
