Field Service Engineer - Explosion Protection - Scotland

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Field Service Engineer position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Field Service Engineer to

conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on Fike explosion suppression and

isolation systems at customer locations as required.

Home-based, ideally located in Edinburgh. Primarily covering the Scotland, the UK

and mainland Europe.

Primary Responsibilities

  • A Home-based role but working on varied industrial sites, predominantly across Scotland, the UK and EU countries.
  • To perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on installed systems to ensure optimal functionality and reliability. Diagnose technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting problems, and offering timely solutions. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by delivering exceptional service and acting as a reliable service engineer.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of service visits, technical issues, resolutions, and customer interactions.
  • Travel to customer sites as required, often on short notice, to perform maintenance and repairs. Flexibility in travel schedule is essential.
  • Adhere to the Fike SHEQ & regulatory regimes.

Job Qualifications:

  • Personable character, able to integrate with a small dynamic, professional team.
  • Run own diary and customer base, including travel and accommodation arrangements to suit.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work independently in various customer environments.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and troubleshoot complex technical systems.
  • Ability to work emergency cover at short notice and be on an emergency call rota.
  • Calm, diplomatic personality; sometimes there is pressure to get equipment working quickly.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Assist in other pan-European regions as required.
  • Level 6 Higher Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Qualification in a suitable engineering discipline.
  • Proficient in using Windows, Gmail, Word, Excel.
  • Multi-skilled background – electrical, mechanical,
  • Controls & instrumentation.
