Job summary

Motionatics Ltd. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, install, commission and test VSDs, motors, soft starters and related low voltage equipment at customer sites. The role is home based with UK on-site work and international travel, plus office time.

The successful candidate will join a flexible team, participate in a 24/7 standby rota, and ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction across contracts.

Qualifications

• We are seeking a technically qualified person with electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering background.
• Two years of relevant fault finding, commissioning and maintenance experience in an industrial setting desirable.
• Demonstrable PLC knowledge and ability to program or troubleshoot systems.

Responsibilities

• Service, install, commission, and test VSDs, motors and related low voltage equipment on customer sites.
• Respond to breakdowns on a rota basis with focus on first-time fixes and high service quality.
• Travel frequently across the UK, with some overseas travel and time in the office as required.

Job description

We are looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to service, install, commission, and test Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Motors, Soft Starters and associated low voltage electrical equipment on our customer sites. The position is home based with on-site work around the UK. There will also be a requirement for overseas travel along with time in the office. Response to breakdown callouts is required from our Engineers on a rota basis. The successful candidate will be expected to have a flexible attitude to out-of-hours working. Throughout all aspects of the role there will be a strong focus on the quality of service provided to our customers.

Tasks:

• Responsible for servicing, maintaining, commissioning, installing, start-up and providing technical support variable speed drive technology and associated products.
• Able to remain calm under pressure and provide a consistent approach whilst working under own initiative, with minimal supervision and provide our customers with the highest levels of service possible ensuring that the quality of service provided for each customer meets or exceeds their expectations.
• Partake in a 24/7 “Standby” Rota ensuring round the clock cover to key contract customers.
• Continuously seek to add value to the services provided and achieve first time fixes, leading to reduced breakdown times, lower costs to customer, reduction in invoice queries, thus gaining customer satisfaction and retention whilst helping to achieve market leadership.
• Have a commercial awareness and an ability to recognise, promote and pursue new opportunities for sales, contracts, retrofits.

Experience & Qualifications:

We are looking for a suitably qualified technical person

• holding NVQ, HNC, City & Guilds, or degree in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering.
• applicants should have at least two years relevant experience of fault finding, commissioning and maintenance of drive train applications (drives & motors) within an industrial environment.
• PC literacy, essential: Various Windows OS, MS Office. Other software packages are used for business purposes and training will be provided as appropriate.
• applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant experience in a similar or appropriate role along with basic programming or PLC knowledge, experience in fault finding, commissioning and maintenance of VSD products is preferable.
• determined, enthusiastic and a self-motivated, organised individual who has the ability to travel frequently along with excellent communication, relationship building and customer care skills.
