Job Title: Mobile Field Service Engineer

Our client, a well-established and successful company, is seeking a Mobile Field Service Engineer to travel around the UK, providing repairs and maintenance for a variety of Forklift Trucks, FLTs, MHE, and Material Handling Equipment that have been hired out by the company.

PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Official Automotive-related Qualification/Apprenticeship in the Forklift, HGV, or Automotive industry. Experienced Technicians/Engineers will also be considered.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a customer-facing, Field Engineer role within the Automotive industry.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Job Description

Your role involves providing professional, efficient, and responsive service support by maintaining and repairing materials handling equipment to the highest standards. You will ensure value for money for both the customer and the company.

Training will be provided for any skills gaps. Once trained, you will be based from home, with some travel to the local depot to collect supplies. You will be provided with a fully stocked service van. Personal tools are expected to be owned by the engineer, but jacks, slings, power tools, and drive sockets will be supplied by the company, along with any specialist tools. The van will be based at the engineer's home, with an option for personal use following government guidelines.

This role suits individuals with previous experience as a Hydraulics Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Forklift Truck Technician, FLT Engineer, HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Plant Fitter, or similar roles.

Salary Details
  • Basic salary ranging from GBP32,600 to GBP36,000 (dependent on experience), plus overtime, company van, and bonus (approximately GBP45k OTE).
  • Hourly pay from leaving home to returning home (door-to-door).
  • Overtime paid at time and a half; Saturday morning work at the same rate, optional.
  • Incentive: Taking a half-hour lunch instead of an hour counts as 30 minutes overtime at time and a half.
  • Voluntary 24-hour call-out rota, approximately every 7-8 weeks, with financial rewards.

Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities
  • Undertake repair and maintenance of customer-owned and fleet trucks on-site.
  • Perform fault diagnosis to identify breakdowns.
  • Carry out repairs, aiming for first-time fix.
  • Highlight and record all damages and faults accurately.
  • Obtain purchase order numbers as per procedure.
  • Provide value-for-money service and fair repair assessments.
  • Perform cost-effective repairs on rental and contractual equipment to maximize profitability.
  • Complete all required paperwork promptly, including servicing sheets, breakdown reports, and timesheets.
  • Collaborate with the sales team, informing them of potential leads.
  • Keep the service van clean and stocked, and profile it to the customer base.
  • Maintain the company's image, efficiency, and first-time fix rate.
  • Order replacement parts and spares promptly.
  • Maintain company-issued tools and safety equipment, reporting deficiencies immediately.
  • Ensure quality workmanship and minimize injury risks.
