Job description

Are you a skilled Field Service Engineer, with experience servicing/repairing diesel powered generators or plant machinery, looking for your next opportunity? Our client is seeking a dedicated professional to join their growing team based near Walsall, providing top-notch engineering services on-site with customers. The role involves maintaining and commissioning various packages to meet the highest standards and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • £17.25 hourly rate
  • Overtime paid at half time and double time
  • Company flexibility and understanding
  • Working hours 08:00am to 16:30pm Monday to Thursday and finish at 15:30pm on a Friday
  • Paid door to door when field based.

The Role:

As a Field Service Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out planned services and maintenance of company equipment.
  • Fault find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
  • Identify specialist equipment and connectors needed for tasks.
  • Use proper testing equipment for effective repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure equipment is set up per contract customer specifications.
  • Modify generator fleet as instructed by the Technical Manager.
  • Attend equipment breakdowns and be part of the on-call rota system.
  • Support team development through training and adherence to management systems.

The Candidate:

The ideal Field Service Engineer will have:

  • Experience repairing Diesel powered engines.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Experience in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with electronic systems and mechanical components.
  • Deep Sea knowledge and synchronising experience.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
  • AVR experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong customer focus and a confident, professional manner.
