Position: Field Service Engineer
Location: Nationwide (Based Midlands)
Salary: £44,939 + £5,849 Shift Premium + £3,287 on call
TXM Recruit is partnering with a prominent automation and intralogistics company to hire a skilled Field Service Engineer to work nationwide across their distribution facilities. This role involves maintaining and optimizing state-of-the-art machinery to ensure seamless operations at the distribution facility.
Shift Pattern:
- Mornings, Afternoons, Nights
- Work Hours: 6am-6pm/6pm-6am/6am-2pm/2pm-10pm/10pm-6am
- On call rota
- Travel and overnight stays will be required
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly tasks, basic field wiring, equipment calibration, and system testing.
- Manage time efficiently using CMMS, aiming for over 90% utilization.
- Complete reactive repairs within set timeframes to minimize downtime.
- Conduct servicing and repairs of installed products, taking ownership to achieve swift resolutions.
- Interpret electrical schematics and work confidently with 415V motor controls.
- Prioritize health and safety by conducting thorough risk assessments.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical skills, including reading and following assembly drawings.
- Follow setup instructions, assembly guides, and checklists with precision.
- Show attention to detail and effective follow-up capabilities.
- Understand and work with control systems.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all levels within the organization and customer environments.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Qualification at NVQ/BTEC/C&G Level 3 in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and technologies.
- Knowledge of PLC systems and their functionality.
- Knowledge of networking systems such as Profinet/Profibus/SCADA.
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is an advantage.
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using CMMS systems and managing engineering inventory.
- A qualification equivalent to HNC/HND is preferred but not essential.
Desirable Attributes:
- Mechanical aptitude, including disassembling and reassembling equipment using technical diagrams.
- Familiarity with 415V motor controls and PLC systems.
- Awareness of health and safety standards, including risk assessments.
- Customer-oriented approach with effective communication skills.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and participate in training, including potential travel within Europe.
