Job description

Role Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Ground Source Heat Pump Engineer with expertise in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems to join our customers dynamic team. The successful candidate will have both mechanical and electrical qualifications and will be comfortable with field-based work, travelling approximately 75% of the time to customer sites (although a significant number are based within two hours of our office).
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of ground source heat pumps and CHP units, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation & Commissioning: Install, commission, and set up ground source heat pump systems and CHP units according to company standards and client specifications.
  2. Maintenance & Servicing: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on both ground source heat pumps and CHP units, with installed equipment typically in the 500kW to 1mW range, but larger installations are within the portfolio.
  3. Fault Diagnosis: Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical faults in both ground source heat pump and CHP systems.
  4. Customer Support: Provide high-quality technical support and advice to clients regarding the operation and maintenance of their systems.
  5. Documentation & Reporting: Complete service reports, maintain accurate records of service work, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  6. Travel Requirements: Travel to customer sites across [specified regions or nationwide] (approximately 75% of the time) to carry out installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  7. Health & Safety: Adhere to all health and safety procedures, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Mechanical & Electrical Qualifications: Must be qualified in both electrical and mechanical engineering.
  2. Experience with Heat Pumps and CHP: Proven experience in the installation, service, and maintenance of Ground Source Heat Pumps and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units.
  3. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Strong ability to diagnose and repair faults in both mechanical and electrical systems.
  4. Full UK Driving License: Must have a valid, clean UK driving license as a company vehicle will be provided.
  5. Excellent Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, providing clear technical guidance.
  6. Flexibility: Willing to travel frequently (approximately 75% of the time) to various sites.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Experience with renewable energy systems and an understanding of energy efficiency.
  2. Previous experience working in the HVAC industry is advantageous.
  3. Knowledge of building services and environmental technologies.
