About the role:
As a Service Department, the main function is to maintain and support gas powered generation plants, whether that is Power Generation only, Combined Heat & Power or Tri-generation. We have the technical expertise to support the complete Jenbacher gas engine product portfolio and associated balance of plant. We maintain and promote long term customer relationships through our flexible commercial agreements.

Role & Responsibilities:

1. To ensure maximum availability of gas engines and related plant through maintenance, trouble-shooting and fault rectification.
2. Deliver an efficient and cost effective service to customers, to ensure that:
1. Maximum availability of gas engines and related balance of plant is achieved through fast response trouble shooting and fault rectification.
2. Scheduled maintenance is carried out to the required standard in order to avoid unnecessary replacement of parts and engine unavailability.
3. Out of hours callouts are responded to in a timely manner.
4. Oil samples are taken, labelled and despatched to the laboratory in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
5. Parts are selected, ordered and used correctly, with any parts that prove unnecessary being returned to store in order to keep wastage to an absolute minimum.
6. Van stock is maintained in good condition, accurately booking parts out as they are used and reporting actual shortfalls to the Area Service Manager.
7. Ensure that liaison and communication with Area Service Manager, customers and subcontractors on site is maintained at all times.
8. Document all site visits and complete service reports in accordance with agreed quality standards and timescales.
9. Protect and develop the industry standing of Clarke Energy by:
1. Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, based on consistently professional dealings and attitude.
2. Maintaining a high level of site house-keeping and presentation.
3. Ensuring that company supplied equipment is well maintained and kept at a high standard of cleanliness.
4. Maintaining tools in a good and safe working order and calibrated as required.
10. Support the Area Service Manager by supervising and training Apprentices and new employees as required.
11. Follow and adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and regulations at all times.



About you:


1. Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:
1. High level of engineering skill and knowledge.
2. Understanding of Clarke Energy products and markets.
3. Gas safe registered.
4. IT skills.
5. Basic coaching skills.


1. Essential:
1. High level of engineering skill with a minimum of 5 years service engineering experience.
2. Electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge.
3. Willing to travel extensively and work alone.
4. Willing to work long and unsociable hours, and work away from home when required.
5. NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Electrical or Mechanical qualification.
6. Apprentice served engineer.
7. Gas safe registered.
8. Reasonable level of IT skills.


1. Desirable:
1. Gas engine knowledge and experience.



This is a full time permanent position, based in our Yorkshire Region. The ideal candidate would be based in any of the following areas: Windsor, Berkshire, Reading or the surrounding areas. The working hours are Monday to Friday 40 hours with paid overtime and additional payments for call out.
