Packaging Machinery Service Engineer - Midlands & South West

Locations: Midlands & South West England

Salary: Up to £42,000 (DOE)

We are a market-leading engineering services provider, specialising in the installation, maintenance, and support of automated packaging machinery across the UK. Following continued growth and new contract wins, we are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team, covering customers throughout the Midlands and South West region.

This is a fantastic opportunity for engineers with experience in packaging machinery, automation, or related equipment to join a forward-thinking business that values technical expertise, reliability, and customer service.

The Role

As a Packaging Machinery Service Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers\' production equipment remains reliable, efficient, and fully operational. You will carry out planned and reactive service work on a variety of packaging systems, providing on-site support and excellent customer care.

Responsibilities
  • Service, maintenance, and fault-finding on:
    • Automated packaging machinery
    • Conveying and handling systems
    • PLC-driven equipment
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and attend reactive callouts.
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate service records via our service management system.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Liaise with clients professionally, providing recommendations and technical support.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (as required).
About You
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience in field service engineering within packaging, automation, or similar machinery.
  • Strong technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical systems (experience with PLCs advantageous).
  • Proven ability to fault-find under pressure and deliver timely solutions.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
