Job summary

Advanced Machinery Services Ltd is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, repair and install specialist woodworking machinery at customer sites across Southern England, with a preference for Oxford or Reading. The role offers autonomy and strong technical support from a dedicated team.

You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, carry out scheduled maintenance, and respond to urgent call-outs while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Field Service experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
• Competent electronic fault-finding abilities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel and stay away.
• Experience with woodworking machinery is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Service, repair and install machinery at customer sites.
• Fit replacement parts and test equipment.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and unplanned repairs.
• Liaise with the Service Department at head office.
• Complete all required paperwork promptly.
• Maintain excellent workmanship and safety standards.
• Support head-office workshop engineers when required.

Field Service Engineer - Woodworking Machinery

Location: Field-based across Southern England - ideally Oxford or Reading region.

Head Office: Skeffington, LE7 9YE

Salary: £33,000-£35,000 DOE, plus overtime, commission and benefits. (OTE £40,000-£48,000)

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

Advanced Machinery Services Ltd (AMS) is looking for a Field Service Engineer to service, repair, maintain and install specialist woodworking machinery at customer sites across Southern England and occasionally further afield.

The role

About you

• Proven Field Service, Mechanical or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering experience


• Strong electrical and mechanical skills


• Competent electronic fault-finding ability


• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills


• A full UK driving licence


• Flexibility to travel and occasionally stay away


• Experience with industrial or woodworking machinery would be advantageous. Ideally, you will live in the Oxford or Reading region.
