Qualifications

Service Engineer – Food Industry Machinery
Salary: £60,000 OTE
Permanent, Full Time | Regionally based role: North England

About the Role

A leading global FMCG business is seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer to join its growing technical team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, repair, and maintenance of high-performance food processing and packaging machinery across a regional customer base. You’ll play a key role in delivering technical excellence and ensuring that equipment performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction are consistently upheld.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, repair and maintain a wide range of market-leading food industry equipment
  • Deliver high-quality technical support to customers, both on-site and remotely
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Read and interpret detailed electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Document service visits accurately and communicate effectively with internal teams and clients
  • Provide training and support to customer operators and maintenance teams
  • Ensure all work meets health, safety, and compliance standards
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction initiatives
  • Qualified multi-skilled engineer with 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience
  • 2–4 years of field service experience, ideally within the FMCG or food production sectors
  • Electro-mechanical background (apprenticeship or equivalent) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and motor control systems
  • Experience with PLCs and Ladder Logic is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation
  • Full, valid UK driving licence required
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused, ‘can-do’ attitude
