Job description

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, it will be your responsibility to represent Howden worldwide and collaborate with our diverse pool of clients to provide technical assistance during overhaul, repair, maintenance, fault finding, installation, and commissioning of reciprocating gas compressors. You will also provide full engineering service support for our customers and develop and manage exceptional customer relationships through technical capability and personal interaction. This is an international role requiring travel abroad and offshore when necessary.

Today, CPI has expanded to include revamps and modernization of compressor packages, leveraging OEM expertise within Howden.

What will you do?

1. Carry out all aspects of reciprocating compressor service and maintenance, including ancillary equipment, at customer sites in the UK, offshore, and abroad. This involves working on routine jobs individually or leading more complex projects.
2. Identify tooling and spares requirements.
3. Keep accurate records of work times and submit weekly signed timesheets.
4. Communicate closely with sales, purchasing, and other CPI divisions.
5. Identify opportunities for emergent work and liaise with sales to maximize outage feedback and emergent work opportunities.
6. Work to achieve objectives set by the Field Service Manager.
7. Travel to customer sites to join teams or troubleshoot problems as required.
8. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
9. Attend safety meetings and complete accident reports as needed.
10. Conduct accident investigations when required.
11. Possess knowledge of site maintenance and repair of reciprocating compressors.
12. Develop and maintain good customer relationships through professional management.
13. Demonstrate experience and a strong focus on health and safety.
14. Supervise others on-site during maintenance and commissioning activities.
15. Work effectively as part of a team or independently.
16. Experience working on international assignments, including non-English speaking environments.
17. Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of producing detailed technical documents like site reports, timesheets, and expense reports.
18. Hold qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance.
