A leading company in the rail industry is seeking a Field Service Engineer based near Felixstowe. The role involves autonomous maintenance of locomotive fleets, ensuring reliable operations through proactive and reactive service. Candidates should possess relevant engineering qualifications and experience with diesel technologies, coupled with strong communication skills to meet customer needs.

Electro-Motive Diesel are looking for Field Service Engineers based close to Felixstowe to join our team. This role would be ideal for an experienced technician with a track record of dealing with diesel engine technology / equipment.

As part of the FSE team, you will be instrumental in maintaining the customer's locomotive fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation, through the delivery of proactive and reactive, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance at various locations including railway sidings, depots and customer sites. You will take a proactive approach to identifying and reporting potential issues and defects that could lead to loco failure or problems with reliability. In delivering a reliable service for our customers you will take part in the on-call roster. Overnight stays may be required where work cannot be completed in a set time.
This is predominantly a lone working role where you will be expected to work autonomously using tools and procedures available to you as well as your own initiative and skillset, to ensure vehicles are reliable and accessible for the customers services. You will be supported by a friendly and dedicated team and approachable managers who care about every team member and provide individual self-development through continuous training.
