Qualifications

  • Experience with plant, agricultural, or construction machinery preferred.
  • Strong diagnostics skills; understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics, and transmissions.
  • IT literate with a positive attitude towards learning new software.

Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Position: Plant & Machinery - South West Region – Blandford

Salary: £38,500 + Overtime at 1.5x and 2x + Bonus + Benefits

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

The Job:

An excellent opportunity for a skilled Field Service Engineer to join a well-established, family-run machinery business representing a market-leading brand within the plant and machinery sector. This hands-on role involves servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of plant and construction machinery both in the workshop and on customer sites.

You will work independently across a designated area, using diagnostic tools to identify and resolve faults, while providing outstanding customer service and technical support.

  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain faults using diagnostic tools (training provided)
  • Service, repair, and maintain plant machinery and equipment to manufacturer standards
  • Complete detailed job reports, timesheets, and risk assessments using an in-house service management system
  • Identify and report additional work opportunities, promoting the company’s services
  • Order parts accurately and liaise with the service and parts teams
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, ensuring safe working practices
  • Build positive relationships with customers to deliver high-quality, responsive service

The Candidate:
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Plant, Agricultural, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with plant, agricultural, or construction machinery preferred
  • Strong diagnostics skills; good understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics, and transmissions
  • IT literate; positive attitude towards learning new software (training provided)
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the region
The Package:
  • Salary: £36,500 - £38,500 DOE
  • Overtime at time and a half and double time
