Job summary

SER Limited, a well-established manufacturer and supplier of high-speed packaging machinery, is seeking a Mechanical Service Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Corby. The role combines workshop and field service work across the UK and Ireland.

You will install, service, repair and train customers on packaging machinery, with travel throughout the UK and Ireland, and a salary of £43,000–£47,000 DOE plus a £6,300 car allowance, pension, 25 days holiday plus bank, mobile phone and

Qualifications

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience servicing or installing packaging or similar industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Welding/workshop experience would be advantageous; reads engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain packaging machinery at customer sites in the UK and Ireland.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Carry out planned maintenance and emergency breakdown support.
• Read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics and provide operator training.

Location - Corby (UK & Ireland Travel Required)

£43,000 - £47,000 DOE + Overtime + Bonus + £6,300 Car Allowance

Responsibilities

• Installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining a range of packaging machinery at customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults to minimise customer downtime.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown support.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings, technical documentation and electrical schematics.
• Providing technical support and operator training to customers where required.
• Completing service reports and maintaining accurate documentation following each visit.
• Working closely with customers and internal departments to ensure the highest levels of service are delivered.
• Attending product and technical training courses, including occasional overseas training.
• Supporting workshop activities when not attending customer sites.

Requirements

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience servicing, maintaining or installing packaging machinery or similar industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Workshop experience including welding and the use of general engineering equipment would be advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Electrical fault-finding knowledge, PLC experience or familiarity with drives, servos and robotics would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and Ireland, including overnight stays when required.
