Job summary

NEOS Engineering Recruitment are working with a well-established plant hire business to add an experienced Field Service Engineer to their team. This role covers servicing, maintenance and repairs on construction and plant hire equipment across customer sites and company locations.

The position suits an engineer with a strong plant hire background, capable of executing planned servicing, fault finding and on-site repairs with professionalism and safety in mind.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' relevant plant engineering experience where the candidate does not hold an NVQ qualification; OR 5+ years' relevant plant engineering experience with an NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Plant Maintenance, Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Experience working on diesel-powered plant and construction equipment, with strong mechanical fault-finding skills and a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to complete service documentation accurately.
• Desirable: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plant Maintenance / Engineering; Previous plant hire experience; IPAF / PASMA / other relevant qualifications; Experience on a variety of manufacturers and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing and preventative maintenance on plant and construction equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Attend customer sites to investigate and repair breakdowns.
• Complete inspections, fault finding and general condition checks.
• Carry out repairs and component replacements to a high standard.
• Prepare machinery for hire and ensure equipment is safe and fit for use.
• Complete accurate service and inspection reports.
• Identify parts and materials required for repairs.
• Liaise professionally with customers while on-site.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health & safety procedures.
• Provide a high level of customer service and represent the business professionally.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced Plant Engineer / Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Engineer / Field Service Engineer with a strong practical background maintaining and repairing construction or plant hire equipment.

Experience Requirements

• One of the following is required:
  10+ years' relevant plant engineering experience where the candidate does not hold an NVQ qualification; OR
  5+ years' relevant plant engineering experience with an NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Plant Maintenance, Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• You will ideally have experience working on a range of diesel-powered plant and construction equipment, with strong mechanical fault-finding skills and a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.

Essential

• Significant experience working on plant / construction equipment.
• Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding ability.
• Experience with servicing, maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Ability to work independently when attending customer sites.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to complete service documentation accurately.

Desirable

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plant Maintenance / Engineering.
• Previous plant hire experience.
• Experience with hydraulic and electrical fault finding.
• IPAF / PASMA / other relevant industry qualifications.
• Experience working on a variety of manufacturers and equipment.
