Job summary

The Field Service Engineer role in Basingstoke, Reading and Oxford regions is with an established engineering business specialising in industrial water treatment solutions. You will service, install and commission equipment, diagnose faults and deliver high standards of customer service while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

You'll work independently across customer sites, build strong relationships, complete accurate service reports and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in field service or similar customer-facing technical role.
• Electro-mechanical engineering with relevant technical qualifications.
• Exposure to industrial water treatment equipment advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and professional customer-facing approach.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• GCSE English and Maths.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the region.

Field Service Engineer - Basingstoke, Reading, Oxford

The Opportunity

An established engineering business specialising in industrial water treatment solutions is looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to support customers across Yorkshire and the surrounding M1 corridor.

This is a varied field-based role involving the servicing, maintenance, installation and commissioning of water treatment equipment across a range of industrial environments. You'll work closely with customers to diagnose faults, carry out planned maintenance and ensure equipment continues to operate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair a range of industrial water treatment equipment, including reverse osmosis systems, deionisation units, filtration systems, water softeners and wastewater treatment equipment.
• Diagnose faults and resolve technical issues both on-site and through remote support where appropriate.
• Carry out equipment installation and commissioning, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and site personnel.
• Complete service reports and associated documentation accurately.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Follow company procedures and health & safety requirements at all times.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support ongoing service development.
• Maintain and develop your technical knowledge through training and self-development.

About You

You'll be an electrically and mechanically competent engineer who enjoys working independently while building strong relationships with customers.

Ideally you'll have:

• Experience working as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Electro-mechanical engineering experience with relevant technical qualifications.
• Previous exposure to industrial water treatment equipment would be advantageous, although engineers from similar process industries are encouraged to apply.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach with customers.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.
