Field Sales Executive - Kidderminster and South Birmingham

Hours of Work: 9 am to 5.00 pm

Field based with HQ visits and offsite meetings.

Salary: up to £25,000-£27,000 pa– plus additional 10% performance related bonus Benefits: laptop, phone. Group benefits (DIS, Pension, Health Shield Cash Back Plan) 20 days holidays (plus 8 bank holidays), company van/car.

Instore, part of Smiths News, is recruiting a Field Sales Representative to drive new retail distribution points by selling our client’s products within the Independent Retail Sector (Convenience, CTN, Grocery, etc.). If you have experience in field sales and can demonstrate your ability, you could be a potential candidate to join our field sales team with Instore on behalf of our Global Client.

Our client is an instantly recognizable household brand, supplying most supermarkets, high street, garden centres, and retailers, as well as a strong e-commerce offering.

Their product offerings and displays are a perfect fit for the independent market—offering high-quality products at various price points to reflect consumer needs. With various display options, seasonal ranges, attractive margins, and ongoing support for retailers, they benefit from a widely engaging marketing strategy. Our clients have partnered with Instore to provide its field sales function.

This role involves full territory management across a designated area, visiting retailers to promote and sell this new service offer. You will act as the key liaison between the brand and the Instore/Smiths News team, communicating effectively and efficiently.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Drive sales & distribution targets to meet KPIs across various accounts, engaging with business owners to complete sales.
  2. Develop strong customer relationships within your sales territory and identify opportunities for increased distribution.
  3. Adopt an entrepreneurial approach.
  4. Identify key accounts with bulk distribution opportunities (Mini Multiples/Others).
  5. Maximize brand presence within your trade area.
  6. Complete all calls within your territory plan daily.
  7. Develop a proactive field mentality to meet KPIs.
  8. Use effective communication to share best practices, keep the Line Manager informed, and engage customers effectively.
  9. Escalate and resolve issues proactively.
  10. Maintain an in-depth understanding of the client’s business and products to aid sales.
  11. Execute all tasks to a high standard.
  12. Provide quality feedback to the line manager to support business growth.
  13. Complete administrative tasks efficiently.
  14. Understand the retail landscape to identify seasonal and competitor opportunities.
  15. Utilize tools to ensure ongoing customer orders and delivery network operation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experience in sales or retail, preferably within FMCG/consumer goods.
  • Experience as a Brand Ambassador is also considered.
  • Strong relationship-building and sales techniques.
  • Experience with remote field activities and meeting sales KPIs.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Proven success in sales and ability to influence change.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Full and clean driving license.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic about retail, and adaptable.
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines.
