Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector for a permanent, field-based role in Grangemouth. The position involves inspecting cargoes across terminals and vessels, measuring and sampling to SGS standards.

You will report to the现场 operations team and work around ship schedules, with a typical 48-hour week and potential evenings or weekends. A full UK driving licence is required, and the role includes a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Experience in hydrocarbon inspection, storage and terminal operations.
• Knowledge of sampling, measurement, and inspection techniques within oil & gas or chemical sectors.
• Familiarity with API, ASTM, ISO, or Energy Institute methods.
• Strong reports and documentation skills.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cargo inspections, measurements, sampling and stock assessments of petroleum, chemical and related products.
• Ensure all inspection activities are completed safely, accurately, and in line with industry standards, client requirements and SGS procedures.
• Produce detailed inspection reports, certificates, timesheets and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with customers, terminals, laboratories and operational teams to deliver a professional and responsive service.
• Maintain inspection equipment and ensure PPE is used and cared for correctly.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across the business.
• Represent SGS professionally whilst delivering a high-quality service to customers.
