Job grade B Closing date 20/05/2025

We are looking for a Field Operations Manager to join Thames Water permanently.

You will lead a multi-disciplined team, who will be carrying out Operational and Maintenance activities of our Water Network Assets in the Thames Valley area.

You will work Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Location - Godalming - Guildford - GU7 1UP.

What will you be doing as a Field Operations Manager?

You will be responsible for operational and maintenance delivery through the effective leadership and direction of resources to achieve set performance and expenditure targets, quality standards, and statutory requirements.

  • Direct and develop Network Service Technicians by setting measurable goals, holding team meetings, one to one-on-ones, completing the PDR process and creating individual development training plans.
  • Promote a culture of engagement and motivation within the team.
  • Champion change through a passion for continuous improvement, promoting best practice ways of working, and sharing local knowledge.
  • Manage, control, and report on an assigned budget, including contributing to budgetary planning to ensure that financial targets are met.
  • Assist with developing risk assessment and Safe Systems of Work (SHE4) for complex work activities.
  • Monitor and drive performance against key metrics to make sure all work is responded to promptly.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess the quality of work being completed by your team.
  • Take team responsibility for safe working practices which comply with company procedures.
  • Identify and support the implementation of new initiatives to drive operational efficiency and customer service improvements.
  • Demonstrate adherence to health and safety policies and a clear commitment to continuously improving the health and safety of our people and sites.

What should you bring to the role?

  • Have previous experience in leading a high-performing operational team and have excellent people and performance management skills.
  • Demonstrate good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with your field-based colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Possess strong IT literacy skills as all work is managed through the SAP system, user training for this and other standard software systems will be provided.
  • Have a full, valid UK driving license, as travelling to other sites and fields will be required
  • There is a Standby rota in this role.
