Job summary

Fraser Edwards Recruitment is seeking a practical, motivated Instrumentation Technician to join a specialist engineering team and work on-site installing sensors, connecting cables and setting up electronic equipment. You will travel to different sites, handle varied environments, test equipment, record information, and collaborate with engineers to support projects with quality workmanship and safety.

Full UK driving licence is required; training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Reliable and honest with attention to detail.
• Interest in electronics, computers, science or engineering.
• Enjoy practical work, including outdoor environments.
• Experience using hand tools or equipment (employment, hobbies, or DIY).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills (Word and Excel).
• Good written English for recording information and completing reports.
• Ability to carry out physical tasks (lifting, heights, confined spaces). Training provided.
• Willingness to stay away from home for short periods.
• Full UK manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment and check readiness before installation.
• Test equipment to ensure correct operation.
• Install sensors and monitor systems on buildings, bridges and structures.
• Run cables and connect electronic equipment.
• Assist with set up of computer-based data collection systems.
• Record information accurately and assist with basic reports.
• Communicate with customers by phone and email to understand requirements.
• Maintain equipment and contribute to improvements.
• Work with colleagues and contractors to complete projects safely.
