Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret contract requirements and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Capability to learn department-specific software programs for various analyses.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.
  • Preferred: experience with ABS rules.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and interact with design disciplines, clients, vendors, and production/craft personnel when necessary.

  • Review and modify production/fabrication drawings of all systems, with concurrence from discipline supervisors.
  • Assist construction planning support activities.
  • Review documents, piping and HVAC diagrams, mechanical systems, equipment designs, and performance analyses.
  • Assist in integrating designs into production and collaborate closely with shipyard personnel.
  • Produce detailed plans of action and deficiency reports to support project objectives and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations necessary for drawing reviews.
  • Implement required changes, additions, and/or revisions as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Field Engineering Supervisor. The role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Primary work occurs in an office environment, but the employee will also be co‑located with production to address technical and production issues on the ship. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers will be used. The employee may be exposed to electrical shock risk. Noise levels are low to moderate except when onboard.
