About The Role

Zappie Communications are looking for a motivated and curious individual to join the team as a Telecoms Engineer Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in a fast-paced, ever-evolving industry. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to learn how to install, maintain, and repair telecoms systems, while studying towards a recognised qualification.
Training to be provided:

Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 22-month apprenticeship which includes 25 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6-8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.
About the role:

The Field Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecomsequipment (e.g., broadband, fibre, VoIP, and mobile systems)
  • Supporting fault diagnosis and repair on customer sites or remotely
  • Learning how to test and commission telecoms services to ensure quality andconnectivity
  • Working outdoors and indoors in both residential and commercial environments
  • Following safety procedures and adhering to industry regulations
  • Using tools, testing equipment, and software to carry out technical tasks
  • Keeping accurate records and reports of completed work
  • Supporting senior engineers and learning from their expertise
  • Attending off-the-job training sessions with our apprenticeship training provider
What are the career prospects at Zappie communications?

After the successful completion of the apprenticeship there will be an opportunity for the apprentice to stay in a permanent position as a field engineer.
Essential eligibility:
It is essential that the Field Engineer has the following skills and personal qualities:
  • GCSEs in maths and English with at least a grade C/4
  • A keen interest in telecoms, technology, or engineering
  • Good problem-solving skills and a hands-on, practical approach
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions
  • A full UK driving licence
  • 21+ years old for insurance purposes
