Job summary

Mploy Group is seeking a hands-on Field Installation Engineer to install, commission and troubleshoot advanced monitoring systems at customer sites across the UK. The role involves mounting on various structures, setting up power, network connectivity and software, plus field fault-finding and occasional international travel.

Ideal candidates have CCTV/security installation background, strong mechanical/electrical skills, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience installing technical equipment in commercial or industrial environments.
• CCTV, security systems, surveillance, ANPR or access control experience would be particularly relevant.
• Strong hands-on mechanical and practical installation skills.
• Comfortable working with electrical/electronic equipment.
• Understanding of networking and connected equipment.
• Comfortable using laptops and software to configure technical systems.
• Good practical fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Confident working outdoors and undertaking manual aspects of equipment deployment.
• Comfortable dealing directly with customers and site contacts.
• Full UK driving licence and comfortable driving vans.
• Willing to tow trailers and operate access equipment, with training available.
• Happy with UK travel, overnight stays and occasional international travel.

• Undertake manual handling as part of equipment deployment and recovery.
• Work outdoors in a variety of environments and conditions.
• Set up electrical power, computers, communications and network connectivity.
• Configure hardware and supporting software.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and network-related faults.
• Carry out straightforward electrical and mechanical repairs in the field.
• Complete site surveys and determine practical installation requirements.
• Test systems following installation and support technical trials.
• Drive company vans and vehicles towing equipment trailers.
• Use boom lifts/cherry pickers and mobile/scissor lifts, with training provided where required.
• Build good relationships with customer and site contacts.
• Feed useful customer and field information back to technical and commercial teams.

Mploy Group is working with an innovative technology business developing advanced sensing and monitoring systems for industrial applications.

We're looking for a practical, hands-on Field Installation Engineer who is comfortable installing, commissioning and troubleshooting technical equipment at customer sites.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone from a commercial CCTV, security systems, ANPR, access control, surveillance or similar installation background who wants to move into more advanced technology.

You don't need previous experience with lidar, optics or environmental monitoring. The specialist technology, data interpretation and reporting can be taught.

What's more important is that you're technically savvy, practically minded and comfortable physically deploying equipment, getting it operational and solving problems in the field.

The role is centred around physically deploying sophisticated technology and making sure the complete system works correctly in real-world environments – from mounting and power through to computers, communications and software.

Previous experience with lidar, lasers, optics or advanced sensing technology would be beneficial, but is not essential. The optical technology, data analysis, interpretation and reporting can be taught.

The priority is finding someone with the practical skills and technical understanding to deploy equipment, get it working and understand enough about the system to engage confidently with both customers and the wider technical team.
