About the Team

Field Engineering plays a key role in building, testing, and supporting PXC's access and core networks. This high-performance, converged network is essential for delivering services across the UK, utilizing cutting-edge technology to ensure the best service for our customers. The team is dynamic and high-performing, with varied work patterns including travel, night shifts, 24/7 on-call support, and remote work. Team members support each other and share knowledge, providing reports through KPIs.

About the Role

The Field Engineer (FE) is responsible for installing, commissioning, and maintaining multi-vendor equipment deployed in PXC networks. Tasks are assigned by the Senior Field Engineer (SFE) or NOC Engineers. The role involves onsite cooperation with internal departments and external contractors and includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rota.

What you will be working on
  • Install new hardware from various vendors to support network expansion.
  • Commission new hardware according to vendor procedures.
  • Connect and commission new circuits via fibre optics or CatV cable.
  • Connect and commission new power circuits via 50 V DC power systems.
  • Analyze faults affecting services, including network and power issues, and resolve them satisfactorily.
  • Identify issues related to space and power that may hinder equipment installation.
  • Ensure safety and health standards are maintained for themselves and colleagues.
  • QA equipment installations to ensure standards are met.
  • Self-schedule work tasks for business-as-usual and project work when required.
  • Adhere to budgets and challenge spend where necessary.
