Job description

About The Role

Are you a graduate or post-graduate with a passion for ecology, looking to gain experience in ecological field survey work? Have you already worked for a season and are seeking more defined work over a 6-month period to further develop your nature identification skills? Do you love getting outdoors and conducting surveys for Britain's protected species such as bats, badgers, and great crested newts?

We are seeking Field Ecologists to assist with survey work in the Kent area for 6 months during Spring and Summer. You will be supported by an experienced team of terrestrial ecologists providing ecological consultancy services to high-profile clients. The role focuses on integrating ecological habitats and wildlife benefits within new developments. During this role, you will undertake a range of terrestrial ecology survey work and site supervision, focusing on faunal species including bats, reptiles, and great crested newts, with potential to work with other species such as dormouse and badger. You will also gain experience in assisting with simple data reporting from survey results.

Requirements
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach
  • Confidence to work with protected species surveys (e.g., reptiles, amphibians); training will be provided
  • Sound knowledge of UK wildlife and a keen interest in Natural History
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel, with some overnight stays
  • Willingness to work up to five days per week, with opportunities for weekend work
  • A full driving license and own car, insured for business use

We have one role available starting in May to support our busy teams this summer, with a guaranteed minimum of 6 months of work at 30 hours per week.
