Job summary

BPA - British Pipeline Agency Limited is seeking a CP Technician to provide field-based support for cathodic protection and corrosion control systems across pipelines and high-hazard sites in the South Region. You will monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and help maintain CP equipment in line with BPA procedures.

The role requires strong technical skills, ability to work across multiple sites, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of cathodic protection principles, survey techniques and standards.
• Proven experience in corrosion management or CP operations in pipelines or high‑hazard environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot CP issues, interpret technical data and work with databases/GIS/CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine monitoring, inspection and testing of CP systems across pipelines, terminals and high‑hazard sites, ensuring compliance with procedures and standards.
• Manage day‑to‑day CP operations including data collection, surveying results, updating CP databases and CMMS records.
• Act as on‑site CP specialist, liaising with landowners, contractors and teams to ensure clear communication and safe execution of field activities.
• Diagnose CP faults through structured troubleshooting, perform repairs, replace equipment and undertake CP surveys (CIPS, DCVG, PCM, AC/DC interference).
• Coordinate with Integrity Team to resolve issues and optimize CP performance for projects and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate technical records, drawings and reports for asset integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve CP performance and roll out improved procedures.
