Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Identify root causes of electrical and software faults and implement solutions accordingly, providing feedback to appropriate departments.
  • Delivery and integration of modifications and upgrades on site to meet the specification and processes of the customer.
  • Provide emergency and ongoing support systems for products installed both at Loop premises and at client sites.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders throughout project lifecycle and provide updates on progress and demonstrations.
  • Ensure compliance with cross departmental policies, procedures and design requirements.
  • Always provide excellent customer service to Loop clients.
  • Provide proactive and reactive service and support engineering to clients to ensure that automation and robotic systems are functioning to the highest capability. Often at very short notice.
  • Identify electro-mechanical system faults and, where unable to provide solutions directly, liaise closely with internal stakeholders to identify and provide solution.
  • Act as ambassador for the Service and Support department and promote and advocate for the department in a professional manner when carrying out the duties of the position.
  • Other Service and Support administrative tasks as required.

Secondary responsibilities:

(in the event of Service and Support being quiet)

  • Provide support to the Software department with system development and testing.

Person Specification

  • Ability to identify faults and deliver fixes, whether directly or from another department.
  • Ability to identify root causes of electrical faults and software bugs utilising good working practice with industry standard equipment.
  • Customer service focused with the ability to build effective relationships with people at all levels
  • Operational experience with PLCs and ability to fault find (Beckhoff, Siemens, IEC-3: LAD, ST, FB, SFC)
  • Diagnostics of industrial fieldbus networks (EtherCAT, ProfiNET, CANopen, RS)
  • Experience working with automation/robotic, and/or industrial systems and demonstrable knowledge of how they work, particularly with respect to safety.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence
  • Willing and able to travel to customer sites, often at short notice
  • The ability to obtain vetted security clearance/DBS checks
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload, work on own initiative to complete tasks autonomously.
  • Ability to read and understand technical electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate at a high technical level, both written and verbal English. Qualified to HNC in an electrical-focused course, or electrical apprentice trained or equivalent level or demonstrable experience.
