Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support to frontline Care Assistants; conduct spot checks and assessments.
  • Assist onboarding and ongoing staff development; shadow new carers.
  • Monitor CQC compliance; support inspections and audits.
  • Plan rotas with Care Coordinators and participate in on-call rota.

We’re recruiting for a full-time, permanent Field Care Supervisor based at the Bishop's Stortford branch, with the majority of time spent in the community supporting frontline care teams and service users.

  • North Herts: Stevenage (SG1, SG2)
  • Central Bedfordshire: Biggleswade, Sandy, and surrounding parishes (SG18 & SG19)
Shift Patterns

We offer flexible patterns to suit your lifestyle (full-time, part-time, weekdays, and weekends available):

  • Day Shifts: 7:00/8:00 AM – 3:00/4:00 PM
  • Evening Shifts: 3:00/4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

As a Field Care Supervisor, your focus is to guarantee the delivery of high-quality care support services. You will spend the majority of your time in the field, with essential office-based administration. Your supervisory duties include:

  • Assessments, Reviews & QA: Conduct initial risk and needs assessments (in homes or hospital/residential settings). Carry out regular care reviews with clients and families, ensure care plans are accurate and person-centred. Perform care quality audits, gather client feedback, report findings, and follow up on action plans.
  • Team Supervision & Leadership: Provide supervision, instruction, and support to frontline Care Assistants. Conduct spot checks, supervisions, and competency assessments in service users\' homes. Act as a primary point of contact for care staff.
  • Training & Onboarding: Assist with onboarding, induction, and ongoing development of new staff. Shadow new carers in the field, identify training needs, and support with performance improvement.
  • CQC Compliance & Safeguarding: Monitor and maintain CQC compliance, support preparation for inspections and audits. Respond to concerns, incidents, and safeguarding matters.
  • Rota Strategy & Operations: Work with Care Coordinators to plan realistic, effective care worker rotas. Participate in on-call rota as required.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Engage in multi-disciplinary reviews and build relationships with service users, families, internal teams, and healthcare professionals.
  • Documentation & Systems: Ensure accurate and timely documentation using care management systems. Maintain up-to-date records, including supervision notes, spot checks, and compliance documents.
Qualifications

What You’ll Need (Essential Requirements)

We welcome applications from experienced care professionals and from candidates with strong people management, coaching, or operational experience.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Field Supervisor in the UK care sector; domiciliary care experience is desirable. Experience supervising, supporting, coaching, or managing people.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of CQC standards, regulations, and compliance; safeguarding procedures and best practices.
  • Assessment & QA Skills: Experience conducting risk/needs assessments, spot checks, supervisions, audits, and competency assessments.
  • Tech & Admin Skills: Familiarity with care management systems and proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Driving & Travel: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle; willingness to travel across England.
  • Attributes: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills; proactive, solution-focused; able to work independently in a field-based role.
  • Availability: Available to join the team ASAP.
  • Right to Work: The right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not offered.
