Job summary

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking a passionate Advocate to join the Barnsley Advocacy Service. You’ll handle a mixed caseload across IMHA, IMCA, ICAA and more, visiting clients in hospitals, care homes, or homes, and delivering high-quality advocacy with independence.

You’ll travel across Barnsley and occasionally beyond, supported by a collaborative team. You’ll have advocacy qualifications, caseload experience, and strong communication, plus IT skills and the ability to manage a busy workload

Qualifications

• Strong advocacy skills and a commitment to empowering others.
• Experience managing an advocacy caseload.
• Knowledge of advocacy principles and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication and adaptable approach.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a busy workload.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel across Barnsley and England for work.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and deliver advocacy across Barnsley.
• Cover IMHA, IMCA, ICAA, Community Advocacy, Children’s and Young People’s Advocacy as required.
• Prepare reports to a high professional standard.
• Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
• Build relationships with professionals, carers and partner organisations.
• Promote advocacy services through presentations and community engagement.
• Maintain accurate records and case management information.
