Field Application Specialist Microbiology & Lab Filtration

We are seeking a Field Application Specialist in Microbiology and Lab Filtration to join our application specialist team.

Do you have laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline? Are you interested in transitioning from laboratory work to a role that leverages your scientific knowledge and communication skills in a commercial setting?

This role involves providing technical support and advice to clients across biopharma, biotech, applied research, and academia, maintaining strong customer relationships, and delivering excellent service. Responsibilities include Microbial Air Monitoring, Microbial Enumeration, Sterility Testing (including rapid qPCR tests), laboratory filtration, ultrafiltration, and purification products.

Your territory will cover the UK, Ireland, and Nordics, with up to 70% travel required. The role is home-based, ideally near an international airport.

Your Responsibilities

• Providing product expertise, application knowledge, and technical support for microbiology and lab filtration products.
• Conducting technical presentations, demonstrations, hands-on training, trials, troubleshooting, webinars, and seminars for partners and customers.
• Collaborating with Sales, Virtual Sales, and Marketing teams to identify new business opportunities, specify customer requirements, and support deal closures.
• Participating in marketing activities, including new product launches.
• Providing internal feedback on market needs, competitors, and customer requirements.
• Engaging proactively with existing customers to identify training needs.
• Managing your own schedule effectively.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
• Strong laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related activities.
• Customer-facing, sales, or application scientist experience is advantageous.
• Experience in training others is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Motivated, curious, organized, and capable of independent planning.
• Team player with the ability to work across functions internationally and independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to present data, findings, and recommendations effectively.
• Willingness to travel and visit customers and partners.
