You will prepare external joints, strip sheaths, clean fibres, and route cabling while adhering to safety standards; you will document results and update as-built records in digital field apps.

Based in Devon, the role involves site work, access to manholes, and travel to customer premises within the region.

Key Responsibilities

Splicing & Termination: Perform precise fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fibre optic cables inside various enclosures, splitter nodes, joints, and customer premises. Network Preparation: Prepare external network joints, strip cable sheaths, clean optical fibres, and route tubes neatly into splice trays according to network schematics. Testing & Fault Finding: Conduct end-to-end optical testing using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers), Visual Fault Locators (VFL), and Light Source/Power Meters. Inspect and clean connectors using video probes. Documentation: Interpret network blueprints, straight-line diagrams (SLDs), and splicing matrices. Complete, update, and upload test results and "as-built" documentation via digital field apps. Maintenance & Repair: Locate, diagnose, and rectify network faults, micro-bends, or fiber breaks on live or newly built infrastructures. Health, Safety & Compliance: Set up safe traffic management systems (signs, cones, barriers) in compliance with street works laws. Safely operate in confined spaces (manholes) and at heights (ladders/hoists).
