Job description

Job Description

Please note this role requires travel, and therefore a fully expensed van is included. Covering Kettering, Northampton, Rothwell, Wellingborough, Luton & Milton Keynes

As the UK’s largest fibre-only network, and its only proven wholesale challenger, we’re busy setting new standards for what digital infrastructure can and should be.

Designed from scratch for the internet, our network is greener, more reliable and ready for the future. The products we provide over it not only lead the market on speed, value and service, but also help businesses to innovate, provide entire communities with a better foundation for their digital lives, and support economic growth, locally and nationally.

What does that mean for you? The opportunity to make internet connections (and daily life) a whole lot better, for a lot of people!

Joining us as a Fibre Quality Specialist

As our Fibre Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of the CityFibre network. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving faults across the network, from the Fibre Exchange to the end-user premises.

You’ll receive a competitive salary, an expensed van, a performance-related bonus, and a range of benefits to support your financial, physical, and mental wellbeing.

This is some of what you can expect to be doing:

  • Leveraging your hands-on experience with fibre to manage and maintain network performance
  • Diagnosing and resolving network issues, including signal loss and physical damage, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal service
  • Utilising advanced diagnostic tools to assess and troubleshoot network issues efficiently
  • Managing complex installations and repairs, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring tasks are completed promptly on the day of service
  • Adapting to evolving operational needs and diverse working environments, including outdoor installations and network centres, with a readiness to travel when required

What you’ll bring to the role

You'll have a strong background working with fibre, including knowledge of network build, FTTx installation, fibre blowing, and fibre splicing. You'll also have:

  • Core network fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Experience of auditing safe systems of work
  • Experience of OTDR / IOLM testing and knowledge of PIA – duct and/or pole installations
  • NRSWA – units 2 and 10
  • SA001 and SA002 Smart Awards
  • Driving licence valid in the UK
