Job summary

Qualifications

Job Description:

A fast-growing startup focused on creating next-generation sustainable materials is looking for a Process Engineering Manager to lead hands-on production and process development work. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in scaling up innovative materials from lab to pilot scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support a small team working on fibre production and testing
  • Plan and run production activities using in-house equipment and with external partners
  • Improve production methods to increase efficiency, quality, and output
  • Analyse data, run experiments, and track results to guide process improvements
  • Help develop new production processes and bring them from idea to reality
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation and safety records
  • Work closely with other teams, including engineering and R&D
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Assist in developing cost estimates for production activities

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related field
  • 3–7 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or lab/pilot-scale production setting
  • Experience with fibre spinning or other continuous processing methods is a plus
  • Strong technical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Experience leading or supervising a team
  • Good understanding of lab safety and UK regulations (COSHH)
  • Confident communicator and team player
  • Comfortable using software like Excel, Word, and SharePoint
  • Bonus points for experience with quality systems, statistics, or programming (e.g. Python, R)
