Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting a Family Group Conference (FGC) Coordinator based in Hertfordshire. You will coordinate and facilitate FGCs, working with children and families who are supported under Child Protection plans.

You'll collaborate with Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams, promote the benefits of family networks, and empower families to create a positive support plan. Flexibility for evenings and weekends may be required; a car for business use is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in child social care or similar setting.
• Commitment to high-quality work for families and children.
• Direct experience in children and young people’s participation.
• Ability to manage groups and meetings.
• Understand complex family dynamics and CYP needs.
• Commitment to FGC model and solution-focused approach.
• Flexible hours; evenings/weekends may be required.
• Essential car user with business vehicle access.
• Excellent communication with partner agencies.
• Proficient IT use: MS Office, MS Teams, email.
• Commitment to anti-discriminatory practices.
• Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Knowledge of FGConferencing is helpful; knowledge of child protection procedures.
• Social work qualification or equivalent; SW England registration if Social Worker.
• Experience in mediation, advocacy, and participation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate Family Group Conferences with children and families.
• Work with Multi Agency Child Protection Teams to offer FGC opportunities.
• Promote benefits of family networks and empower families to create a plan.
• Offer referral discussions with practitioners and visit families.
• Support families under Child Protection Plan or PLO/Court Proceedings.
• Be self-motivated, dynamic and organised; adopt strengths-based practice.
