Job summary

Major Recruitment are looking to hire a Fettling/Assembly Operative to join our client, a leading employer in Nottingham. You will contribute to fettling, grinding and assembling components while reading engineering drawings and ensuring high-quality finishes throughout production.

Work Monday to Friday with two 40-hour shifts (06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00). Overtime paid at time and a half. Temp-perm or permanent opportunities offered, with in-house FLT training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in fettling or assembly preferred; training provided.
• Skilled with hand tools, especially grinders for fettling.
• Overhead Crane experience is advantageous.
• FLT counterbalance licence is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
• Able to work independently and follow instructions accurately.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move parts.
• Positive attitude, reliable and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Follow Health & Safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Assist other departments to support production.

Salary: GBP12.71 - GBP15 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Fettle, grind, linish and finish laser cut and fabricated components.
• Remove weld spatter, sharp edges and imperfections to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Assemble fabricated components using hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out visual quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
• Report any defects or quality concerns to the Team Leader.
• Ensure components are completed within production deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
• Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Assist other departments when required to support production.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in fettling or assembly preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
• Ability to use hand tools effectively, particularly grinders for fettling work.

Working Hours and Pay:

• Monday to Friday

• 8 Hour Shift 40 hours per week
• Overtime paid at time and half over 40 hours
• 10 min and 30 min break PAID
