Job description

We are looking for an individual experienced in assessing fetal wellbeing across various maternity settings, with strong teaching skills. The post holder will support Labour Ward and other maternity areas, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and efficient service.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Lead on teaching and ensure training targets for fetal wellbeing meet national requirements.
  2. Work with the matron to ensure smooth service operations, including staff training, orientation, and updates.
  3. Stay informed of changes to processes or protocols and educate staff accordingly.
  4. Participate in training and assessment for student and preceptorship midwives.
  5. Develop and implement clinical teaching and competency assessment programs to improve birth outcomes.
  6. Enhance staff understanding of pathophysiological factors affecting fetal heart pattern interpretation, using evidence-based practices.
  7. Ensure staff can confidently and accurately auscultate fetal heart in labour, documenting appropriately, using tools like Pinard or hand-held Sonicaid.
About Us:

Our purpose-built maternity unit handles approximately 4,700 births annually and provides antenatal care for over 5,000 women. We are part of the North Central London integrated care system, working closely with NHS and local authority partners across Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey.

Training and Collaboration:

We are committed to staff development and provide training for medical students from UCL and St George’s University Grenada, as well as nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex, City Universities, and the University of East London.
