Job description

We are seeking kind-hearted and enthusiastic females to join our team caring for our 2 disabled adult children, who both have severe learning and physical disabilities. We are looking for carers who enjoy caring and who would like the opportunity to enhance our children’s lives.

Elspeth and Jack both need help in all areas of their lives, including communicating and interacting, meals and drinking (Elspeth has a peg), dressing, bathing, personal care, and also just having fun and enjoying their lives. Elspeth can get uncomfortable at times and needs help to get comfortable. They both also need help to maintain (and ideally extend) what they are able to do (communication, physical, daily living, leisure activities).

The role also includes some light domestic tasks such as cleaning and organising.

No experience is necessary (although it will be helpful), just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Because of the movement and handling involved you will need to be physically capable and reasonably strong and robust.

We want carers who enjoy interacting with very young children as, although our children are adults, these interactions are similar to those they enjoy.

Includes waking nights

Average of approximately 37.5 hours per week.

The current shift pattern is 3 days on (4:30pm-8:30pm, 4:30pm–9am, and 9pm–9am), followed by 3 days off, repeating. Within this, there may be some flexibility if a colleague can cover / swap shifts (with prior approval). Flexibility will be needed at times and we will need some additional shifts, primarily nights, to cover holidays etc.

Hourly rate: £16.20 per hour

This position is full-time.

If you think you would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you. Please forward your up-to-date CV with covering letter including information about whereabouts you live and how you would travel to Bexley.

Driver preferred.

This job is open to female applicants only due to genuine occupational reasons as the role includes aspects of personal care.
