DRIVER ESSENTIAL - This role requires you to be a driver and able to drive a mobility car.

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Female Support Workers to join our team in Peterborough and surrounding areas.

As a Female Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with unique abilities and needs.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence. We are flexible with hours and consider applications from all interested candidates. Some shifts include sleep-in duties, paid at a flat rate, and others do not. We also offer domiciliary support shifts within the community.

This role is suitable for those new to care or looking to expand their skills. You will be working alongside a supportive team, receiving full induction and training, including moving and handling.

About the Service

We support 18 individuals weekly; five have 24-hour support with sleep-in shifts, and the others receive domiciliary and community support in Peterborough. Daily activities include shopping, medication, budgeting, and social outings like skateboarding and swimming.

Driving with business insurance is desirable to support wider community access.

Support Worker Responsibilities

  • Supporting independence, including budgeting, housework, and cooking
  • Building relationships and promoting positive understanding
  • Supporting community access and social inclusion
  • Providing personal care, including prompting medication and assisting with bathing

What We're Looking For

Contract Options

  • Full-time: 37.5 hrs
  • Part-time: flexible hours
  • Relief: flexible working, no set hours/shifts

All roles are in 24-hour care services, with rotas planned at least 4 weeks in advance. Sleep-in shifts are paid at £63.70 flat rate. Roles are subject to DBS checks and references. Due to service nature, female applicants who can drive a mobility car are preferred, as this post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010.
