Overview
Female Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker required to assist a young woman with Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disabilities and Startle Seizures, living in the Motherwell area.
You would provide one-to-one care and assistance within the home and in the community, including personal care and participation in social activities.
Responsibilities
- Attending to all personal care needs (showering, toileting including bowel movements)
- Assisting with medication
- Preparing meals and healthy snacks
- Assisting with participation in activities such as pottery, Zumba, gym, bowling, cinema and getting hair & nails done
- Moving and assisting – transferring from power wheelchair to toilet/shower chair and bed
- Shopping and collecting prescriptions
- Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
Qualities and Requirements
- Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs
- The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role
- Driver with a Full UK Manual Driving Licence is essential as you will be required to drive a manual mobility vehicle
- Relevant experience desirable but not essential as training will be provided
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential
Schedule and Terms
- Recruiting for 1 position
- Guaranteed permanent 30 hours each month
- 1 sleepover per month (24 hour shift, sleeping night shift)
- 1 afternoon/evening weekend shift per month (approximately 6 hours per shift)
- Friday 12pm to Saturday 12pm OR Saturday 12pm to Sunday 12pm
- Some evenings may be required – employer is flexible, to be discussed at interview
- Salary: £12.60 per hour
