Role Description – Mental Health Support Worker

Gray Healthcare is recruiting support workers within the Bessacar area of Doncaster to support a gentleman in his 20s diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. He lives independently and receives 1:1 support 24 hours a day. The individual has a good sense of humor and enjoys outings in his mobility vehicle. The support team is all female, working on shifts of days and waking nights. We are recruiting drivers only for this role, as the individual has access to a mobility vehicle for community access.

Skills and Experience Required

• Full UK Driving License – Essential
• Experience in social care, preferably with mental health and supporting individuals with Schizophrenia
• Ability to encourage individuals with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities
• Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors
• Experience implementing care plans and risk assessments
• Must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months. We do not offer sponsorship
• Clearance through an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Hours

36-hour contracts: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, including day and waking night shifts.

or 24-hour contracts: 2 x 12-hour shifts per week.

Induction and Training

Initial online training covering company induction, systems, and medication. Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK, a PBS approach promoting least restrictive practices. Additional person-centered training specific to the individual supported. Ongoing training and career development are encouraged.
