Job description

Hours: 4 hours per week during term time and 11.5 hours per week during school holidays, including weekends.

Rate: £14.00 per hour

We are seeking an experienced personal assistant for Sehrish, a lovely girl with Global Developmental Delay who communicates using basic BSL and some Makaton signs. She is a wheelchair user but can move on her bottom when out of her chair. Personal care duties include nappy changes, assistance with feeding and dressing, and support as needed.

Sehrish enjoys painting, building with blocks, using her iPad, and listening to music like "Free from Desire." She loves going to various venues such as the Alan Shearer Centre, Centre for Life, the Aquarium, soft play centers, the cinema, and swimming. She follows a Halal diet and is on medication managed by her mother.

The role requires lifting and carrying Sehrish in and out of her wheelchair, so good fitness and manual handling training are advantageous. Familiarity with public transport and accessible bays is necessary.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be male or female, in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and the Equality Act 2010.

This vacancy will close once a suitable candidate is appointed.

At the time of employment, the candidate must have permission to work in the UK.
