Salary: 100 - 120 per day (depending on experience)

We are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Female PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive secondary special school in South East London, Greenwich. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with complex needs.
As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils aged 11-19 with severe and profound learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex medical needs. The role requires both patience and resilience, as well as a caring and flexible approach to education.
Due to the personal care and nature of the role, this position is open to female applicants only, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
Supporting students with PMLD on a 1:1 or small group basis
Assisting with personal care, including toileting and feeding (training provided)
Using specialist equipment (e.g., hoists, standing frames, wheelchairs)
Supporting therapy sessions (physiotherapy, speech and language)
Promoting student independence and inclusion
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists
Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD, SLD, or complex needs (preferred)
A calm, empathetic, and positive attitude
Confidence in assisting with personal care and manual handling (training can be provided)
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
A welcoming and inclusive school environment
Ongoing CPD and training in specialist areas (e.g., PECS, Makaton, moving & handling)
