Job Description:

Personal Statement: I am an active person who enjoys life to the full, striving for independence despite a C5/6 spinal cord injury resulting in complete paralysis below the shoulders and partial paralysis of my arms. I am wheelchair-bound and require assistance with personal care and domestic chores. I currently have three Personal Assistants and am seeking a new team member. The role involves supporting me in daily life, activities like keep fit, wheelchair rugby, cycling, swimming, art, gardening, woodwork, socialising, and occasional outings.

Person Specification: Reliable, honest, hardworking, committed, with a good work ethic. Experience in care is preferred but not essential; willingness to learn is crucial. Must be physically fit for manual handling tasks. High hygiene standards, flexibility, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality are essential. A good sense of humour and understanding of impairments are important.

Training: Induction shadow shift, ongoing support, 3-month probation, DBS check, and references required.

Times Required: Evenings from 18:00 to 10:00 the next day, approximately 16 hours per week at £11.74/hr. Flexibility needed for variations, holidays, and cover.

Vacancy: Starting with 1 shift per week plus training and cover leave.

Personal Assistant Duties: Tasks include meal prep, personal and domestic care, social activities, and supporting independence. Full job description available upon request. Flexibility required to accommodate varying needs.

Training & Certification: Essential PA guide, safeguarding, moving & handling, food hygiene, first aid, hand hygiene. DBS and references required.

Transportation: Full UK driving license, own car, able to drive motability-equipped vehicle.

Medical: Safe medication administration, continence care.

Schedule: 16 hours/week, pay £11.74/hr, specific shifts to be negotiated. Additional details on weekly, monthly, and annual pay are available.
