Job summary

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is seeking a part-time Support Practitioner to join their Greenock team. You’ll work across supported living and dispersed services, helping people on an outcome-based programme to grow in confidence and learn life skills.

No care experience required; training including SVQ funded. You’ll provide daily living assistance, emotional support, and help with meals, appointments, finances, and personal care, while encouraging social activity and independence.

Job description

Looking for a part‑time role that is packed full of job satisfaction where you can make a real difference? If you’re based in or near Greenock and share our values, then we want to hear from you!

Our fabulous team is on the lookout for an understanding and motivated individual with a positive attitude to join them as a Support Practitioner on a part‑time (20hrs per week), permanent basis.

You don’t need experience in care to start your career with us; we recruit on values and transferable skills. We’ll give you all the training you need to be an amazing Support Practitioner including a fully funded SVQ.

The Role

Working across our supported living and dispersed services, you will support individuals on an outcome‑based programme which will see them grow in confidence and learn life skills to increase their independence.

The people we support have a range of different needs including mental health, learning disabilities, addictions and past trauma. As a Support Practitioner you will play a key role supporting in all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances and aspects of personal care. As well as helping the people we support in their own homes, you’ll also provide emotional support and assist them to maintain relationships with family and friends.

The people we support are all very different with their hobbies and likes, from attending clubs to going out for lunch with friends, quiet moments in the library to volunteering or shopping, every day is different. We’re looking for someone who’s ready to take an active interest in the hobbies and passions of those we support. Whether it’s discovering new opportunities, encouraging social connections, learning new skills or reducing isolation, you’ll help individuals lead the lives they choose.

To be part of our team, we’ll need you to:

Shift patterns

Our dedicated team provides tailored support 24/7 and our shifts include early shifts from 7:30am, back shifts until 8/9pm and sleepovers which are 24 hours. This role does involve working weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.

The sleepover part of your shift is not included in your contracted hours so for every sleepover you cover you will be paid an additional £107.60.

All successful Support Practitioner applicants will be given a conditional offer - this is subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and PVG; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector. All new staff members will be required to register with the SSSC within 3 months of their start date.
