Job Title: Female - Live-in Carer
Location: Paignton, South West England (Seaside town – driving required, limited public transport)

About the Client

We are seeking a compassionate Live-in Carer for an 82-year-old woman living in the beautiful seaside town of Paignton. Our client has early-stage dementia and is in recovery from a previous stroke. She is mostly independent but benefits from guidance and support throughout the day.

She enjoys gardening, walking, cooking, shopping, going to the beach, and coffee outings. She values companionship and engaging with the community.

Role & Responsibilities

While the exact duties may evolve, your primary role will be to provide companionship, encouragement, and ensure her safety and well-being. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Supporting daily routines and promoting independence
  • Cooking and meal preparation
  • Prompting and administering medication
  • Accompanying appointments and social activities
  • Personal care (as needed – currently minimal)
  • Emotional support and companionship
  • Occasional night assistance (up to twice per night, max 15 minutes each time)

Working Schedule

We are flexible and open to carers' preferences, but ideally looking for candidates who can commit to rotational blocks (minimum 2 weeks), with the possibility of up to 12 weeks of continuous work. We aim to build a small team of two rotating carers.

  • Daily hours: 13-hour day with a 2-hour break
  • Sleep-in: 9 hours per night, with occasional assistance allowed (max twice, 15 minutes each)
  • Weekly rest time: 14 hours off (can be 2 hours daily or two 7-hour periods)

Accommodation

  • Separate private shower room with toilet and sink
  • Access to the kitchen and living areas

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • Moving & Handling, Dementia Care training preferred
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK

  • Full UK Driving Licence essential
