About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell and mend energy.

We’ve powered UK homes and businesses for over 200 years. But we’re also making the UK greener and more energy-efficient, working towards Net Zero. Using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers, we help customers reduce their carbon footprint more affordably and easily.

About your role:

This advert aims to inspire more females to pursue an engineering apprenticeship.

We aim for all our customers to reach net zero by 2050, and some may feel more comfortable with a female engineer in their home. That’s where you come in. If you’re not a typical engineer? Good. We’re not a typical energy company, and this isn’t a typical job.

As an apprentice, you’ll gain skills by joining one of our engineering teams, which could include Gas Service & Repair, Heating Installation, or Smart Metering (recruiting in most areas). We have various entry routes in 2025 and look forward to welcoming new colleagues.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• 4 GCSEs, ideally including Maths & English, at grade C/4 or above or a recognized equivalent
• A genuine passion for learning a trade, building a successful career, and providing excellent customer service
• A full UK driving license with 6 points or less
• Availability for training at UK-wide academies, with accommodation and travel provided if needed

What’s in it for you:

• Starting salaries from £15,435 to £17,850, increasing with milestones
• Post-completion salary aligned with a fully skilled engineer or electrician
• London Weighting Allowance from £4,000 to £6,000 depending on location
