Job description

OneHealth is seeking a fellowship-trained Foot & Ankle Consultant to join and expand the Orthopaedic Team within the One Health Group.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within a private or NHS setting. Candidates should demonstrate a professional outlook, possess an empathetic telephone manner, and understand the importance of patient confidentiality.

Applicants should currently hold a substantive NHS post or have been in a long-term locum position (more than 12 months). If not currently in an NHS post, candidates should have been a substantive NHS consultant for at least 3 years prior to leaving the NHS. They must be on the GMC register with no hearings or restrictions and hold relevant sub-specialist qualifications (FRCS {orth}) and be on the specialist register.

Main duties of the job

This role involves assessing and operating on NHS patients referred to One Health via the NHS e-Referral System. Appointments will be conducted across various outreach clinic sites, with a specific focus on Shoulder & Elbow. Operations will be performed in independent sector hospitals, requiring the consultant to be prepared to travel.

Job responsibilities

The appointed Foot & Ankle Consultant will support the growth of the Orthopaedic team, assessing and operating on NHS patients referred via the NHS e-Referral System. All surgeons working with One Health will undergo an onboarding process and obtain practicing privileges at each hospital where procedures are performed.

The work will be based in Loughborough & Leicester, so travel is required.
