Job overview

Applications are invited from SpR/ST4-6 and CT3 Trainees for appointment to a Fellow in Medical Education (FME) placement. This unique post offers an exciting opportunity to develop experience and skills as a medical educator. The Fellowship will consist of an out of programme experience for a period of twelve months, attached to the Department of Medical Education within North East London NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will play an active role in the teaching and training of Resident Doctors, undergraduate students and senior medical staff within: NELFT; Barts & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD); and the London Deanery.

NELFT covers a large geographical area, and the role requires you to have the ability to travel effectively throughout these sites when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will have a regular schedule of teaching commitments and will actively contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust's postgraduate education programme for Resident Doctors and Physician Associate students at QMUL and ARU. The post holder will collaborate with the Director of Medical Education, Postgraduate Tutors, the medical education manager and their FME colleague in the organisation of these programmes.

The post holder will undertake projects in medical education, under the supervision of the Director of medical education and postgraduate tutor and will be supported to attend a formal university course in medical education, with potential to pursue this to diploma or masters' level.
